No problem, buddy

One thing that is amazing about being with these children, is being able to witness the love and care they have for each other. It really has the feel of family when you walk into a room, and some of the older kids are helping the younger ones read. For instance, today when my group to go to the park was getting ready, we were in quite a hurry. Luca (Age 4, Pre-K) took up most of his time finding his shoes. As I was trying to rush the children to the bus, I saw Arjun (Age 8, 3rd Grade) frantically running around, helping Luca search for them. After they found them, Arjun grabbed all of his and Luca's belongings, just so we could get moving faster. As we approached the bus, Luca said, "Arjun's my good friend because he helps me get all my stuff." Arjun simply  replied with, "No problem, buddy." Another case, just today, was when we were leaving the park. I was in back of the line, and Gertie (Age 4, Pre-K) was dragging behind the other kids. Thinking something may have been wrong, I asked her why she was moving so slow. She turned around, scanned the playground for a few seconds, then says,"I just wanted to make sure we weren't leaving anybody!" I just shook my head and quietly thought to myself, "That's so Gertie." I love spending time with these children, and getting to watch how much they love and care for each other everyday, is nothing short of admirable.
