Meet the SoulShine Family!!
|
Ms. Shannon |
Shannon founded SoulShine in December 2006. SoulShine is rooted in her belief that every child should be given the space and encouragement to create themselves through all forms of artistic expression. When she assumed SoulShine's current location, it completed her vision of raising children with a community of support with an "at home" environment. Shannon has over 9 years of experience with children and is still in awe every day of how amazing they are. She believes in positive reinforcement instead of traditional behavioral discipline. She is always encouraging the children to use their words and open their hearts. Shannon's strength lies in her abundant energy and big heart.

Ms. Kaitlyn |
Ms. Kaitlyn is 21, and has been working with children for years. Starting with babysitting jobs, then moving on to become a nanny for a 1 year old and a 3 year old. After nannying, caring and teaching many children, Ms. Kaitlyn then came to SoulShine as a substitute for the past year. Now, she gets to live her dream by having a job at a child-care program! Ms. Kaitlyn always strives to show the kids a logical side of things, and tries to explain everything. "I was a very inquisitive curious child, and nothing stifled my livelihood more than not receiving answers to my silly trivial questions. You have no idea how much knowing answers to the littlest and most simple questions can really mean the world to kids."

Farmer Bremen |
Farmer Bremen is proud to claim Atlanta as his childhood stomping ground. These days, you can find him farming in East Atlanta with Oakleaf Farm or at Imagine Wesley Charter School growing their school gardens! During college, he had a working experience on a farm and quickly chose to make a day's work into a lifestyle. The last several years have seen him assisting farms in a variety of niches, from herding goats in North Carolina to building a vegetable permaculture farm on the North Shore of Oahu in Hawaii.
Farmer Bremen is helping SoulShine to show our children how growing our own food and medicine can be fun, healthy and easy in your front yard! As SoulShine's gardens expand, be sure to check in and see what we are growing these days!
